Avoid these wedding regrets for a perfect day

Wedding are one of the most significant life events, that is why people go all out for them. While it is one of the best days for most people, some end up having regrets.

According to Groomsday wedding expert Chris Bajda, one of the biggest regrets that most couples have is overspending on unnecessary things.

“Your carefully planned aesthetic, from the elaborate table settings to those custom-made wedding favours, will inevitably become dated,” Bajda said.

“Many couples regret spending thousands on decorative elements that guests barely noticed or remembered.”

Below are more of the most common wedding regrets.

1. Following trends instead of personal preferences

What’s trending on Pinterest or Instagram might look stunning now but wedding trends change rapidly.

“I’ve seen countless couples look back at their photos and cringe at their choice of mason jars or rose gold everything – trends that felt impossible to ignore at the time,” warned Bajda.

2. Not hiring a professional photographer

No one gets married with the plan to divorce, so treat your wedding as the only wedding you’ll ever have.

The worst thing you can do is not hire a professional photographer to capture all the beautiful moments on your special day.

And don’t try to be cheap by hiring an amateur photographer because most of them often miss crucial moments, lack proper lighting, and can’t capture the more subtle emotions of the day.

3. Poor gift registry management

Be specific about the gifts you want because it’s annoying to receive something you don’t like, next thing you have to pretend to avoid looking like you’re ungrateful.

Also, having a registry helps to avoid duplicated gifts.

4. Overlooking personal comfort

Don’t be like Kim Kardashian and choose drip over comfort by getting a dress that you can barely sit in. Yes, style is important, but so is comfort because there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable on your wedding day.

5. Skipping the videographer

“Photos capture moments, but video captures movement and sound – the elements that make memories come alive,” Bajda added.

“Couples who skip videography often regret not having footage of their vows, their first dance or their parent’s emotional speeches.”
